The Allman Brothers Band recently got a new organ, but not in the way you may think. On June 23, Gregg Allman underwent surgery for a liver transplant at the Jacksonville, Fla., Mayo Clinic. Allman has struggled with Hepatitis C for years, and he was placed on the transplant list in 2007 after receiving treatments for the disease and learning of chronic liver damage.
His doctors say he is cleared for the bands scheduled concerts this fall, and Gregg is also looking forward to attending his daughter Island’s wedding in July. The band was scheduled to play at Eric Clapton’s Crossroad’s Guitar Festival on June 26, but-understandably-canceled.

Moogis is the brainchild of Allman Brothers Band member, Butch Trucks. The site is an online music community that offers subscribers live streaming and archived HD video.
Moogis was launched last year to accompany The Allman Brothers Band 40th Anniversary Beacon Theatre performances. To prepare for the launch, the Beacon Theatre was equipped with several HD cameras, which operate both remotely and by cameramen. Each show had a director and crew that composed the footage as it streamed live on Moogis.com.
Butch was hoping to create an online venue that gave music fans content and community that was worth paying for. Moogis offers video streaming at speeds of 564k or 1000k. The video quality is of HD standard, something that is very rare to find for online video, and offers little to no buffer time.
Currently Moogis offers live footage from various Allman Brothers Band performances. The most recent offering will be the upcoming Wanne Music Festival, April 16-17th at Spirit Of Suwannee Music Park in Oak, FL. For the future, Trucks is hoping to expand Moogis to the entire jam band scene and also create an avenue for up and coming talent. Stay tuned in with Moogis.com.

The Allman Brothers Band is scheduled to perform the first weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival!
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, dubbed Jazz Fest, is held April 23-25; April 29-30; and May 1-2. What began at a small square in New Orleans in the 70s has now grown to fill an entire arena.
Though it’s held in New Orleans, it offers more than Cajun music. Performers like Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Aaron Neville, Darius Rucker, Steve Martin, Better Than Ezra and Average White Band will be performing in 2010 on one of 12 stages.
Jazz Fest food is also a treat for the palate. Sure, it might be a festival, but the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation (who puts together the festival) has a strict ‘No Carnival Food’ rule. With more than 70 food vendor booths, festival-goers can expect to get the very best Cajun food in Lousiana with dishes like crawfish beignets, cochon de lait sandwiches, alligator sausage po’ boy (sandwich), boiled crawfish, softshell crab po’boy and crawfish Monica, according to the festival’s official Web site.
In addition to music and food, there are also several craft vendors that maintain booths in three separate areas of the arena: Contemporary, Congo Square or Folk.

The Allman Brothers are touring constantly to bring their southern rock jam-band sound to fans across the country. Now, fans will be able to catch a glimpse into the life of the band they love, as the home they rose to fame in has been turned into a museum.
The Big House in Macon, GA, was purchased by bassist Berry Oakley and his wife in 1970. It was the place where the band developed their sound, living together with wives, girlfriends and children. This is house where many hits were written, including their trademark track “Ramblin’ Man,” and it’s the last place Duane Allman visited in 1971 before dying in a motorcycle crash.
The three-story Tudor house will feature more than 300,000 pieces of memorabilia collected by the band’s longtime tour manager Kirk West.

The Allman Brothers old house, located on Vineville Avenue in Macon, Ga., is being turned into a museum. In the past the house has been a rental property, law firm and private home.
Right now, there are no exhibits, but that could change as soon as December. Some work remains on the entrance, but the house has new heat and air conditioning, as well as a new roof.
