Allman brother undergoes liver transplant
The Allman Brothers Band recently got a new organ, but not in the way you may think. On June 23, Gregg Allman underwent surgery for a liver transplant at the Jacksonville, Fla., Mayo Clinic. Allman has struggled with Hepatitis C for years, and he was placed on the transplant list in 2007 after receiving treatments for the disease and learning of chronic liver damage.
His doctors say he is cleared for the bands scheduled concerts this fall, and Gregg is also looking forward to attending his daughter Island’s wedding in July. The band was scheduled to play at Eric Clapton’s Crossroad’s Guitar Festival on June 26, but-understandably-canceled.
